The World Senior Citizen’s Day was established on December 14, 1990, by the 45th session of the UN General Assembly. Since 1991, this holiday has been celebrated annually on the 1st of October.
The main goal of this holiday is to pay respect to the older generation, care for them and draw attention to the problems and difficulties they face. This is why this day is so important for the society. The holiday has its own logo – the palm, a symbol of kindness, care and compassion.
Old age is also called “the golden age”. For this particular reason a day in the middle of autumn – the golden season – is now dedicated to celebrating older people.
Happy holiday to you, our dearest, our life gurus and mentors – the wisest and the most experienced!
