THE 1st OF JUNE – AN INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S DAY

“Okzhetpes” health and wellness complex wishes you Happy Children’s Day!

It is still unknown why this holiday is observed on June 1st…

International Children’s Day is one of the oldest international holidays. The decision to observe this holiday was made in 1925 at the World Conference on Child Welfare in Geneva.

After the Second World War, when the problems of maintaining health and wellbeing of children were urgent as never before, at the Women’s Congress, which took place in Paris in 1949, they vowed to incessantly struggle for the everlasting peace as the only assurance of children’s happiness. And the same year, during a Moscow session of the Council of the International Democratic Federation of Women, in accordance with the resolutions of its 2nd Congress, they established a holiday – the Children’s day. A year later, in 1950, on June 1, the first International Children’s Day was observed, and since then this holiday is celebrated every year.

The International Children’s Day has its own flag; before, it was celebrated with speeches and discussions on the rights and welfare of children, they would show new films and TV programs for children, organized sports competitions for them, often inviting parents to participate as well. Even today in many countries there arrange various entertainment events for children on this day.

Children’s Day is not only a fun holiday for children: it is also a reminder to the society of the need to protect children’s rights so that they grow up happy, be able to go to school, do what they love and become wonderful parents and citizens of their country in the future.

Please accept my warmest congratulations on this wonderful holiday! May your families be strong, united, dependable and loving. May your homes be filled with children’s laughter! Let hopes be born and dreams come true!

Take care of yourself, because family is the most important thing in the world!
